संपूर्ण जगभरात ८ मार्च हा दिवस ‘महिला दिन’ म्हणून साजरा केला जातो.

कोणताही दिवस साजरा करण्यामागे त्या दिवसाचा इतिहास दडलेला असतो.

८ मार्च या दिवसाच्या इतिहासाबद्दल जाणून घेऊयात या लेखातून.

मध्ये ८ मार्च १९०८ रोजी न्यूयॉर्कमध्ये वस्त्रोद्योगातील हजारो स्त्री कामगारांनी रुटगर्स चौकात जमुन प्रचंड मोठी ऐतिहासिक निदर्शने केली.

दहा तासांचा दिवस आणि कामाच्या जागी सुरक्षितता या त्यांच्या प्रमुख मागण्या होत्या.

या बरोबरच लिंग, वर्ण, मालमत्ता आणि शैक्षणिक पार्श्वभूमीनिरपेक्ष सर्व प्रौढ स्त्री-पुरुषांना मतदानाचा हक्क मिळावा,

अशी मागणी देखील यावेळी त्यांनी केली.

अमेरिकन कामगार स्त्रियांच्या या व्यापक कृतीने ‘क्लारा झेटकीन’ ( Clara Zetkin )अतिशय प्रभावित झाली.

१९९० साली कोपनहेगन येथे भरलेल्या दुसऱ्या आंतरराष्ट्रीय समाजवादी महिला परिषदेमध्ये एक महत्वाचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला.

८ मार्च १९०८ रोजी अमेरिकेतील स्त्री कामगारांनी केलेल्या ऐतिहासिक कामगिरीच्या स्मरणार्थ ८ मार्च हा दिवस ‘जागतिक महिला दिन’    ( World Womens Day )  म्हणून स्वीकारावा असा क्लारा यांनी मांडलेला ठराव पास झाला.

भारतात मुंबईमध्ये पहिला महिला दिन ८ मार्च १९४३ रोजी साजरा करण्यात आला.

पुढे १९७५ हे वर्ष युनोने ‘जागतिक महिला वर्ष’ म्हणून जाहीर केले.

त्यानंतर स्त्रियांच्या समस्या समाजासमोर येत गेल्या आणि बदलणाऱ्या सामाजिक, आर्थिक, राजकीय आणि सांस्कृतिक परिस्थितीनुसार स्त्रियांच्या मागण्यांचे, प्रश्नांचे स्वरूप देखील बदलत गेले.

आपल्या स्वकर्तृत्वाच्या जोरावर अनेक महिलांनी विविध क्षेत्रांमध्ये मोठी झेप घेतलेली आपण पाहतो.

ऑटो सेक्टर ( Auto Sector ) मधलं इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सेगमेंट ( Electronic Segment )आपल्यासाठी तसं नवीन क्षेत्र आहे.

परंतु या क्षेत्रात सुद्धा महिलांनी उंच भरारी घेतलेली आहे.

अनेक मोठ्या पदावर महिला काम करत आहेत.

रिक्षा, बाइक चालवणाऱ्या अनेक महिला आपण पाहिल्या असतील.

पण इलेक्ट्रॉनिक स्कूटर ( Electronic Scooter )बनवणाऱ्या कंपनीत मोठ्या पदापर्यंत या महिलांनी मजल मारली आहे.

अशाच दोन मराठमोळ्या महिलांसंबंधी आपण आज जाणून घेऊया.
