अस कोणीतरी म्हणताना एकल आणि विचार करता खर वाटल .  पतीच्या खांद्याला खांदा लावून काम करण आणि त्याच्यासोबत संसारातली सुख दुःख वाटुन घेण सुध्दा एक प्रकारे त्याची काळजी करणच आहे की . पतीच्या दिर्घायुष्या बद्दल प्रार्थना नक्कीच करा पण त्याचा त्रास त्या वडवृक्षाला कशाला ???

काल बाजारात सहज फिरत होते तिथे चक्क वडाच्या झाडाची फांदी विकणारे लोक बसले होते.

सध्याच्या परिस्थितीत गृहिणी वडाच्या झाडाच्या पुजेकरीता बाहेर पडू शकत नाहीत. पण जुन्या संस्कृती आणि परंपरांचा आपल्या समाजावर इतका मोठा परिणाम आहे की लोकं चक्क वडाची फांदी घरी आणुन त्याची पुजा करतात. इतक्या मोठ्या प्रमाणात वडाच्या झाडाची कत्तल कशाकरता ???
पर्यावरणाचा समतोल राखण्यासाठी वडाचे झाड हा सर्वात महत्वाचा घटक समजला जातो त्याचीच वारेमाप प्रमाणात कत्तल होते ते ही फक्त एका परंपरेकरीता . वटवृक्षाच्या सोबतीत स्त्रियांनी काही काळ घालवावा या मागच शास्त्रीय कारण जाणुन घेता आपल्या समजेल की स्त्रीयांना होणार्‍या आजारांपैकी काही आजार फक्त वटवृक्षाच्या छायेतच कमी होतात. मासिक पाळीच्या समस्येमद्ये जर स्त्रियांनी दिवसातला काही काळ वटवृक्षाच्या झाडाखाली घालवला तर त्यांची बर्‍यापैकी समस्या दूर होउ शकते अस आयुर्वेद सांगत. आँक्सिजन पुरवठ्या करीता सगळ्यात महत्वाचा घटक म्हणजे वटवृक्ष. सर्वात जास्त आणि चोवीस तास फक्त आँक्सिजनच देणार एकमेव वृक्ष म्हणून वडाच्या झाडाची ख्याती आहे. वटवृक्ष इतर वृक्षांप्रमाणे फक्त दिवसा आँक्सिजन नाही पुरवत तर रात्री देखील ते आँक्सिजनच पुरवत असत. वडाचेच झाड कशाकरीता अस विचारल तर त्याच कारण आहे की वडाच झाड हे सगळ्यात जास्त दिर्घायुषी झाड आहे. आपल्या पतीला त्या झाडाइतकच आयुष्य लाभो अशी प्रार्थना सुवासिनी या झाडाला करतात. काही परंपरा या फक्त परंपरा असतात म्हणून निभावल्या जातात, म्हणजे वटवृक्ष पुजायचा आहे तर दिवसातुन केव्हाही पुजा अगदी त्याची फांदीही पुजा अश्या गोष्टी आजकाल घडताना आपण पाहतो आहे. फुल ना फुलाची पाकळी म्हणत वड ना वडाची फांदी असा प्रकार सध्या सुरू आहे.
अशी सावित्री काय कामाची जी एका परंपरेसाठी नैसर्गिक संपत्तीचा असा ह्रास करते आहे. झाडे कापण त्याची कत्तल करण एकप्रकारे गुन्हाच असतो.
